Simon Schranz came third in the F4 CEZ Championship event at the Salzburgring celebrating his inaugural overall podium finish – Hady Mimassi helped complete a 1-2 in the rookie category

At round 3 of the F4 Central European Zone Championship at the Salzburgring, the Formelaustria Young Drivers Simon Schranz and Hady Mimassi continued Renauer Motorsport’s podium streak. Following a poor qualifying both drivers showed completely different form, when the lights went out.
In race 1 Schranz and Mimassi stormed from P11 and 13 respectively to P6 and 7, which meant a 1-2 finish in the rookie championship.
Moving up for race 2 due to the reverse grid rule, Schranz was able to fight amongst the Top 5 right from the start, while Mimassi was struggling with his car balance. On one of his favourite tracks, the young Austrian managed to take P4 right before the Safety Car was deployed. At the restart, with only one lap to go, Schranz surprised Jenzer Motorsport driver Javier Herrera and slipped through to take third, his first-ever overall career podium.
In the final race, Mimassi and Schranz had to start again from the back and fought their way through to P7 and 8 in the end, earning another rookie double podium.
“It was a very good weekend for the entire team. Congratulations to Simon on his inaugural overall podium. That’s the next step in his career and we are looking forward to seeing our lads race in Most after the summer break,” teamboss Sepp Renauer was delighted.
Mimassi is now seventh in the driver standings, while Schranz is on P11 with two races less. In the team standings, Renauer Motorsport is on P3.
