Austria’s only professional junior driver academy has agreed with racing partner Renauer Motorsport to compete in the 2026 TCR Eastern Europe

The Formelaustria Race Academy, co-founded by F1 sports consultants HM Sports and Renauer Motorsport, is a two-year programme, originally, supporting karting talents and top SimRacers in their transition to becoming thoroughbred Formula 4 drivers. Riccardo Patrese, Alex Wurz or Franz Tost are supporting our programme with their expertise as ambassadors. More F1 know-how is contributed by former FIA F1 press spokesperson Alexandra Schieren who runs the media training.
However, in order to offer Formula 4 experienced drivers a career path in touring cars, the academy is now also offering TCR racing. TCR is reserved for production cars with a 4/5-door saloon or hatchback body that are powered by a 2-litre turbocharged-engine with output limited to 340bhp.
TCR Eastern Europe is a racing series for TCR cars in Central and Eastern Europe with a high level racing on renowned circuits like Hungaroring or Salzburgring.Following a successful shakedown in the TCR European Endurance Series weekend in Misano,
“Formula racing affords quite a lot of funds. Although it is our academy’s philosophy to provide F4 cockpits for a reasonable season fee, below the common going rates, not every talent has the necessary financial background,” programme director Harry Miltner explained.
“Therefore, together with Renauer Motorsport, we have worked out another career option going down the TCR road.”
In 2025, nearly 700 drivers from more than 60 different countries have been competing in official TCR championships.
Following a successful shakedown in the TCR European Endurance Series weekend in Misano, Renauer Motorsport and the Formelaustria Race Academy feel ready to launch a TCR Eastern Europe campaign next season.
“We will be fielding our Hyundai Elantra N TCR, former works team car, and have signed on two ex-Hyundai Motorsport engineers to provide the perfect basis for a successful season,” team boss Sepp Renauer added.
