First Formelaustria Young Driver season a success!

The final race weekend of the F4 CEZ in Czechia may have been unlucky for the Formelaustria Young Drivers, but the 2025 championship campaign was a true success

Following problems in qualifying, Hady Mimassi and Simon Schranz started race 1 from P10 and P12 respectively. But the pair made up several spots crossing the line on P7 and P9, scoring good points and securing good spots for the next two runs.

In race 2, Mimassi quickly moved up the order, but was harpooned by an opponent and had to retire the car. Schranz also suffered damage on the front wing and was equally forced out. With P7 for the young Canadian and P10 for Austrian Schranz in best possibly repaired cars the weekend closed in mediocre fashion.

However, on an overall level, the 2025 F4 CEZ season exceeded the expectations as Hady Mimassi had entered the Formelaustria Young Driver Programme (FAYDP) with little experience in F4 and no knowledge whatsoever on the championship circuits. Against all odds the 16-year-old scored three podium finishes and placed fifth in the final standings.

“We are very happy with Hady’s progress. He was clearly a very quick lad, when he joined us. But he didn’t know the car, our Renauer Motorsport Team or any of the tracks. Thanks to great teamwork between him, his race engineer and our team boss, Hady has made some big steps forward,” programme director Harry Miltner was delighted.

Miltner also praised Simon Schranz, who pocketed his inaugural podiums in F4 racing this year and came ninth overall, despite having had to sit out two races due to an injury.

“Simon did a great job, but he was very unlucky this season. His 3rd place finishes in Salzburg and Most showed, what he is capable of. We hope to continue working with him next year, so he can show his true potential,” Miltner added.

The FAYDP founder underlined that “we must never forget our goal is to develop young talents into thoroughbred Formula 4 drivers. Hence, we are not turning up with F4 veterans on a weekend to crush the competition. Our focus is on giving hopefuls the chance to learn and progress.”

While Schranz and Mimassi are already in stage 2 of the programme, Marcel Kieser is about to finish stage 1. The young Austrian has been competing in F4 clubsport races to gain track experience and might drive in the odd F4 CEZ weekend in 2026.
