The new Austrian junior academy has booked two slots for the Iberian F4 championship.
After its launch in June 2024, the Formelaustria Young Driver Programme has evolved rapidly, taking young Austrian driver Simon Schranz from a SIM racing ace to a podium contender in the F4 Central European Zone.
Thanks to this rapid success, “more and more karting and SIM racing talent is knocking on the door of the programme and has enabled us to expand,” explained programme director Harry Miltner.
“Our technical partners Renauer Motorsport have done an excellent job of getting Simon to this level of competition in such a short time. Our plan has worked perfectly, so we are able to take the next step and organise pre-season race starts,” added Miltner, who has been active in Formula 1 for more than two decades.
To provide its drivers with the perfect preparation for the new season of the F4 CEZ championship, the programme will field two cars in the 2025 Formula Winter Series. The Winter Series is a non-FIA championship that hosts four race weekends between January and March in Portimao, Valencia, Aragon and Barcelona.
“The Winter Series has established itself as a top alternative to F4 UAE and offers us much more scope due to the shorter travel distances from Austria,” said track director Florian Renauer. “The level of competition in the series is high and therefore an excellent playing field for our talents.”
FAYDP participant Simon Schranz has already been confirmed, the second place has yet to be filled and the program is open for negotiations.
