At the season finale at the Salzburgring, Oscar Wurz won the title and Simon Schranz presented himself as the best rookie in the F4 CEZ Championship.
With a second place in the second of three races on the last championship weekend of the F4 Central European Zone at the Salzburgring, Oscar Wurz secured the title early. The Formelaustria brand ambassador had an anti-stall and therefore only started last, but fought his way through the entire field to finally cross the line in P2.
“It was a bit more dramatic than it should have been, but in the end everything went well. I can’t put into words how happy I am. I would like to thank my team and the Formelaustria fans for their support throughout the season,” said the youngest son of F1 legend Alex Wurz, beaming from ear to ear.
Simon Schranz gave an impressive display of talent. The young Tyrolean, who will compete in the entire F4 CEZ season from 2025 in Austria’s junior academy, the Formelaustria Young Driver Program, drove three strong races, finishing twice in P4 and once in P5. This meant that Schranz also won the rookies twice.

“It was just great to be able to compete in an F4 weekend in Austria. The Salzburgring suits me very well and I was able to show a little bit. Of course there is always room for improvement,” said Schranz, pleased with his good performance.
Formula Austria Young Driver Programme Director Harry Miltner was also satisfied with the season: “First of all, we would like to congratulate our brand ambassador, Oscar Wurz, on his title. Oscar was clearly the most consistent and mostly the fastest man of the season, and is therefore a deserving champion.”
“We did not expect Simon to have such a strong weekend. He showed that our trust in him and his talent was absolutely justified. Last year at the same time he was still sitting at home and doing SIM racing. Now he is a rookie winner in an FIA Formula 4 series,” continued Miltner.
In addition to Schranz, Alex Scheiblecker from Lower Austria has already been confirmed as the second of four drivers for the Formelaustria Young Driver Programme 2025. The remaining two cockpits will be confirmed at the beginning of next year, with three female drivers also in the inner circle.
