Formelaustria Young Driver Simon Schranz turned a bad start into his Formula Winter Series F4 weekend at MotorLand Aragón around and celebrated his second rookie podium!

Schranz had raised his bar from session to session, becoming faster and faster on a track, which was again new to him. However, in race 1, the young Austrian was too fast, braked too hard at the end of the long straight, and by taking out two opponents destroyed the front of his Tatuus F4 in the process.
Following the early exit in the weekend opener, the Renauer Motorsport driver showed significant improvement in the second run saying in P5 of the rookies for a long time. Unfortunately, a spin right in front of him on the slippery, wet track forced Schranz into an emergency manoeuvre, which meant dropping back several spots. He fought his way back and ultimately finished eighth among the newcomers.
In the final race of the weekend, Schranz profited from a clever move of his team, having decided to start on rain tires in mixed conditions. This gave the 16-year-old much more confidence in his car and he paid it back by racing to P8 overall, securing his second rookie podium with P2. With a little more luck, he could have done even better, as the Tyrolean was in the lead at one point but then risked too much and spun out.
The Formula Winter Series F4 closes this coming weekend at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
